TS CONVERTING EQUIPMENT LTD report continued interest in their low cost “C” range of Elite Cameron Centre Winders.
They developed this model as a low cost alternative for customers that would not have previously considered purchasing new. They are building 1-2 a month of these machines in their Taunton facility, which complements their build programme and general flow of their high performance machines.
A 1600mm wide machine with an 800mm rewind diameter has just been supplied to PSG for use in their clean room. PSG carry a wide range of coated and plain films specialising in rapid delivery, often despatching orders same or next working day.
“ Our class 8 clean room has opened the doors to many food and medical packaging customers, as we are accredited to BRC B and ISO14644,” comments Mr Lawrence Gardezi, Managing Director of PSG Group, “The latest machine has enhanced our facility, enabling us to effectively provide a quality product, in a very competitive industry. We are very happy with our existing Elite Cameron machines but the benefits of the short web run and quick change over on the C800 are very significant. We can complete a full knife and reel set up in less than 5 minutes with minimal wastage.”
The machine has the latest dual direction, pneumatic differential shafts for both 76mm and 152mm cores.
“These shafts work extremely well at low tensions, “claims Tim Self, Director of TS “ We have successfully run very narrow slit sizes, as low as 20mm, which would not be possible on conventional centre winders”
The machine is equipped with both Razor and Shear slitting, Auto edge guide, Lazer core and knife positioning, Automatic tension control, layon rolls and the latest SSD digital AC drives. The male and female knife shaft bearing supports are removed leaving the shafts cantilevered for knife replacement.
The web path from the shear and razor slitting section to the rewind is very short, which dramatically reduces any potential for web movement. The slit strips are also secured in position using a web clamp, during finished reel removal to maintain registration through the machine for the next set of cores.
Another 1600mm wide, 400mm rewind diameter machine was shipped to GE in North America to slit down to 6mm reels of delicate film products. Conventional centre winders can only typically achieve 10-12mm minimum slit width on stable, non extensible products. This particular machine is also used for some non-wovens and was the first machine to be shipped with Crush, Razor and Shear Slitting.
TS say that the machine provides exceptional value for money starting from £50K depending on final specification. They have several machines on back order for the UK, European and USA markets manufacturing them to the latest CE and UL standards.
The machines are built using standard sub assemblies which can be selected on their CAD design system. Once the individual specification has been determined a full set of manufacturing drawings are issued within 3 days of them receiving an order, reducing their typical delivery time to less than 10 weeks.
